Crowns & Bridges

Why do I need a Crown or Bridge?

istock 941012812

Dental crowns and Bridges are designed to restore natural teeth which have been lost, damaged or decayed. A crown may be fabricated and positioned by Dr. Blackwelder to restore a decayed or fractured tooth and return it to its original form and function. A dental bridge is a whole substitute for one or more missing teeth. These restorations are bonded onto the adjoining tooth or teeth and are known as โ€œfixedโ€ dentistry, versus a removable partial denture.

New materials similar to all-porcelain dental crowns give Dr. Blackwelder the ability to combine the very best of strength and aesthetics. Teeth that have undergone many silver fillings may be restored to appear like the natural tooth it once was.

Indication that a Dental Crown might be needed:

  • Teeth which seem to have more filling than tooth
  • Extreme damage resulting from decay
  • Extensive visible cracks or chips
